DIY // {Julian's Nursery}

I had so much fun putting Julian's nursery together..and let's be honest...getting this nursery set up was more for myself than it was for the baby :P Even though he won't remember it, I still wanted Julian to have a space of his own for his things. It's probably my favorite room in the house so if you want to see how everything came together check out the post below.

I knew from the very start that I wanted the theme to be vintage sports. My husband loves sports and I love vintage, so I thought it would be cool to merge the two and create a fun room that was stylish but still fitting for a baby boy.

I knew from the beginning that I didn't want just a standard matching nursery furniture set with matching bedding and matching curtains and matching everything. I wanted it to look like it all went together without it feeling like I picked up everything in the same exact place.

On top of that, I really wanted the furniture to be able to grow with the baby, so for the changing table we went with a simple gray dresser and added a changing pad on top. That way once Julian is out of diapers we can keep the dresser and just take the top off. You can shop them here and here

Our crib is by Delta and you can shop this model here. I love this piece because it can go from a crib to a toddler bed and then to a full sized bed. It's great for us because there is no need to go out and buy each new bed every time Julian is ready for the next size. The cute sports ball shaped throw pillows I picked up at TJMaxx but I linked some similar ones here. The bed sheet is linked here and you can shop the floor lamp here. The fun sports wall art is from Hobby Lobby and the adorable banner was actually made for my baby shower.

The rocker we chose is this beautiful gray linen. You can shop it here. Let me tell you, this rocker is my favorite piece of furniture in the room. Not only does it rock but it also reclines! (It doesn't rock when it's in the reclining position.) It is so comfy and the perfect place to kick back and enjoy some sweet baby snuggles. We especially love it for story time. The pillow on the chair is sold out but the matching pouf is linked here. The white faux fur is from TJ Maxx but I've linked a similar one here.

The windows in our house are super tall which makes finding curtains that are long enough kind of hard. The 84" ones are too short and the 96" ones are too long. So these blue ones are a temporary solution of us right now. They are from Marshall's and to make up for the shortage in length I hung twin flat sheets behind them. I chose a dark gray color to make sure the room was extra dark for sleepy time.

The inspiration for this entire room was actually the old football you can see here. I found it at an antique store in town and loved how worn it looked. The other sports balls around the room include a basketball and soccer ball, which are both my husbands, and an old baseball that we found at home when we bought our house.

I got so lucky when I found these storage bins at Ross. I can never find a complete set but I was super excited when I found these and knew they'd be perfect for the nursery. They hold socks, bibs, and burp cloths. The wall art, football statue, and football frame are all from Hobby Lobby.

Overall, my favorite thing in this room is the peg board that hangs above the diaper changing station. I made it based on the Shanty 2 Chic version which you can see here. I used the stain Early American by Minwax and bought some hooks from amazon. The actual peg board and wood was purchased at Lowes and it was seriously so fun to make. It's one of my easiest and favorite diy projects!

The four sports ball mini canvases are from TJ Maxx and the buckets are from the Target dollar spot. I put some patent prints of a football, baseball, and soccer ball on some clipboards we had around the house.  I swapped out the knobs on the dresser for some cute sports ones from Hobby Lobby. You can check them out herehere, and here. I found the tall metal numbered storage unit at Hobby Lobby as well and felt like it went in perfect with the theme.

So that's Julian's room. I didn't think I'd have as much fun putting a boys room together as I did. I loved how it all turned out and I'm still thinking of things that will change once he gets older. Thanks for stopping by! :)

What I Bought // {Moto Jacket and Ballet Flats}

Just wanted to write a quick post on a couple things I have found the last few days that I absolutely love! Check them out below <3

I just ordered the burgundy moto jacket. Seriously, I saw it in the store and it called. my. name. It's so pretty you guys. I cry. So soft and the color is amazing. I love summer but I cannot wait until it gets cool enough for me to wear this. I will post something when it arrives. Oh! Also, it was 30% off..*jaw drop*..anyways I linked that jacket and some similar styles. They are all still on sale so check them out!

The pink lace up ballet flats I just got today. TWENTY DOLLARS YA'LL. I always wanted to be a ballerina. I know it's hard to believe that someone so poised, so graceful, and so elegant as myself has never been a dancer, but it's true. These however bring those ballerina dreams to life. The blush satin is to die for. If I didn't already have a wedding I would seriously consider wearing these to my reception. Alas, I will have to wear them in my everyday life. I'll post something when I find the perfect outfit for these babies because they only deserve the best. I also linked some more basic black ones that are probably more suitable for most wardrobes...but I like to live life on the edge.

Top 10 Baby Products I Use Everyday // {Kim's Top 10}

1. Dock a Tot: Baby J sleeps in this thing ever.single.day. I read so much about this thing and knew that I had to have it. It keeps him snug and comfy through every nap and night time sleep. You can buy them here and here...but you guys...they sell them online at TARGET..which means that if you have a baby registry you can use your 15% off to get it :) On their website they have different cover prints, accessories, and even a new baby monitor feature that is coming out soon. It's so easy to travel with and one of my favorite baby purchases. They come in two sizes, the Deluxe for babies 0-8 months or 5-22 pounds and the Grand for babies 9-36 months or 22-40 pounds. Shop the Deluxe HERE in white, HERE in chevron, and HERE in black/white. Click HERE for toys and arch accessories. Click HERE for Grand covers and HERE for Deluxe covers. You may see the new Deluxe+. The difference between the Deluxe and the Deluxe+ is the new loops for the toy arches on the Deluxe+. These accessories are new and therefore original Deluxe covers did not have this loop.

2. Comotomo Bottles: My favorite bottles. Period. Okay so we really only tried these and the Avent bottles...but I really really dig the Comotomo bottles. They are super easy to clean, have a number of nipple flow options, and you can buy handles for them! The wide mouth also makes it easy to pour in breast milk or drop in your formula. They are made of silicone so they feel amazing and are easy to grip. I also love that they are great for breastfeeding babies. If you switch back and forth between the bottle and the breast, give these a try, they are supposed to mimic breastfeeding very well. This was really important to me when I was looking for bottles because I wanted to make sure that J would feel comfortable going back and forth between the two. So far everything's been great! Shop them HERE and HERE.

3. Fisher Price Bouncer: I originally bought this Fisher Price Bouncer to put in our home gym so J could have something to keep him entertained while I worked out....but it has quickly become our go to seat around the house when we need him to stay occupied. It has a vibration soother and it’s not too big that I feel like it’s in the way….not to mention it’s totally affordable at only $30! It also matches his play mat really well which I love. Shop it HERE. Click HERE for a more neutral version.

4. Motorola Baby Monitor: I love this wi-fi monitor because it is remotely accessible! All you have to do is download the Hubble App and you can view from wherever you have internet access. It's awesome! I shoot my husband a text while he's a work and he can take a peek at his sweet little boy. The handheld monitor that comes with the camera does have a smaller screen, so if you're looking for a really large picture you won't get that here. Honestly that doesn't impact my opinion of the camera at all. The screen is clear and it does everything I need it to. I haven't experienced any lag with the camera and video streaming which is great because the last monitor I got that was a different brand was super laggy. I do want to mention that this system does not have pan and tilt so you will have to adjust the camera manually. However, using the handheld monitor you can zoom in/out, it has a two way mic, and it displays the temperature. There are also 5 lullabies that you can control of the handheld. I do wish that there was a white noise option since that's what we use. I believe you can also add additional cameras...we haven't done that but it's a great feature. Shop it HERE

5. Boppy Lounger: I have the original Boppy Nursing Pillow but I honestly use the Boppy Lounger way waaaay more. Wheather I'm sitting on the living room floor folding laundry or my husband is on the couch giving J a bottle, the lounger is such a convinient little seat for our guy. It's comfy and provides great support. I used the original Boppy when I first started breastfeeding but once I got the hang of hold and nursing the baby I didn't really use it anymore. I'm sure J will eventually grow out of the lounger...pretty soon probably by the way he's growing...but we definitely got our monies worth out of it. To clean it I just tossed it into my front load washer and dryer and it was good to go. Shop it HERE or HERE

6. 4Moms Baby Bathtub: Okay so I know you can dip your elbow in the water and some people will probably think this bathtub is so extra..buuut..I still love it. As a first time mom there are a lot of things you worry about. Well, this tub takes the worrying out of bath time by displaying the water temperature and a green light when the water is perfect for you little one. If the water gets too hot the display flashes red and even beeps. Another great thing that I love about this tub is the fact that it keeps clean water flowing in and dirty water flowing out. I don't know about your baby but a warm bath is like pushing a "Pee Now" button on my kid. Shop it HERE or HERE

7. Boppy Changing Pad Liners: These are so handy. I keep one everywhere. I guess they're made to put on top of your changing station pad...but I don't use them for that. They are waterproof on one side and a terrycloth fabric on the other. They fold up and are easy to throw in your diaper bag, keep around the house, or store in the car. I read different reviews on diaper changing pads and some people were complaining that this pad didn't have memory foam or that pad wasn't thick enough....so if you're looking for those things this is not it. It's basic but it works. They're super convenient and J doesn't seem to mind that this isn't a Temperpedic :P Shop them HERE or similar ones HERE.

8. Graco Pack'N Play: We have two pack n plays, one in the living room and one in our bedroom. This exact one is in our living room and we use it so much. It comes with a bassinet area, a newborn napper, and a changing table. We never really used the napper..in fact all ever ever use this for is to change diapers. Once J gets too heavy for the table we'll probably take it out and just use the bassinet area for changing. We have this pack 'n play next to our bed and J sleeps in this at night in his Dock-a-Tot. It's a great size and a nice neutral color. I love both of these and they were definitely worth the cost. Shop them HERE and HERE.

9. White Noise Machine: If you don't have a white noise machine go get one now. I know every baby is different but if you are having some issues getting baby to sleep through the night definitely try this out. It is really helpful. Something I learned from a baby sleep program I recently read, is that babies have sleep cycles and it's really important to have consistency. This little machine not only helps drown out other noises but I also think that it helps J when he wakes up on his own to hear it and know that it's still sleepy time. We have THIS one but I also like THIS one and THIS one.

10. Swaddle: When J first came home he did not like to be swaddled. a couple months down the road we decided to try it again and boom..he loved it. I have a bunch of different brands but the Cloud Island three pack from Target is my absolute favorite. They are sooooo soft and super super affordable. There are a bunch of fun prints and let me tell you, I know everyone is all about the Aden and Anais brand but you need to try these. We have THESE but I love THESE for baby girls...so sweet! Since J has been rolling over we switched over to the Halo Sleep Sack. We still use these swaddles to cuddle, lay down on the carpet, or wipe up drool...but click HERE to shop the sleep sack we use everyday. Its soft and safe for baby..no worrying about loose fabrics in bed with your little one.

Extra: Uppa Baby Vista and Mesa: Okay, so I don't use this everyday but it is so amazing I had to put it in here because it definitely does get a lot of use. I did a lot of research on strollers before choosing the Uppa Baby Vista. You can read all about it HERE. Ultimately, I decided on it because it just had everything I was looking for. I love using it because it's so easy to maneuver (even with one hand), it has a huge basket...huuuuge (one time I even had a box of furniture in there while I was shopping at Target), it is convertible and can carry up to three kids, it came with a bassinet which I really really wanted, and it just looks great (I get asked all the time what brand it is and where to get it). One thing I especially love is that the Uppa Baby infant car seat, the Mesa, fits right on the stroller. There are no attachments needed and it fits on there without the toddler seat. Some strollers have a seat and then you have the infant car seat on top of that and I just think it's looks too bulky...but with the Vista and Mesa you really get a clean, modern, high end look. They are pricier than some other car seats and strollers but I absolutely love mine and definitely recommend them. Shop the newest models HERE and HERE

6. I love a good open back dress! The front is simple and sweet but you turn around...BAM you're hit with a dramatic, sexy open back framed with a ruffle and tie. Comes in three colors but I am all about that burgundy right now! Shop it HERE.

7. Since I've become a mom I basically just grab things I can throw on that still make me look like a functioning human being. This dress is going to be one of those things. Casual and comfy I'd pair it with some cute sneakers, a top knot, and some cute sunnies before making my run to Target. Shop it HERE.

8. This blush sweater dress doesn't need much of an explanation. It's just lovely. Shop it HERE.

9. I just ordered this sweatshirt! It's the prettiest blush color and has 3/4 sleeves...but my favorite thing about it is the ruffle detail on the back! It also comes in gray. So cute!! Shop it HERE.

10. Another romantic blush lace top. I might have a problem. This also comes in ivory. Shop them HERE.

11. This grey sweater has a little bit more of a flowy bottom but what I love most is the white lace! It also comes in black and a navy/white stripe. Shop them HERE.

12. This open front cardigan is going to be something I layer over everything. It's lightweight and comes in five colors. Shop them HERE.

13. I love the off the shoulder trend right now and this top has a simple dot pattern. It is soft and flowy and comes in a black and white ikat patter as well. Shop them HERE.

14. I've been on the fence about these heeled slides but I'm warming up to them. If you're not sure either, if you're looking to try something new, or if you love the style, these BP ones are a great option! Shop them HERE.

15. This peep toe bootie will get you from spring, to summer, to fall while looking stylishly put together. I like that it has a block heel because I find them to be more comfortable. It comes in three colors. Shop them HERE.

16. EEK! Can't wait for this to arrive. This is a perfect top for summer. I bought this in blue color, size small. It comes in three colors. Shop them HERE.

17. Okay so the ONLY reason I haven't gotten this already is because I have another zip up from Calia by Carrie Underwood in basically the same color. I'm still debating though since I bought the matching high waisted leggings. What do you guys think? Is this a must? It is certainly my color :) It is also available in black and white. Shop them HERE.

18. I really like the style of this active tank. It comes in four colors, light pink, olive, black, and white. Haven't purchased but if I do I think I'm going to go for the olive. Shop them HERE and HERE.

19. Drooling over this sweatshirt...the lace up sides...the color...ugh I need it. It's a little more expensive than some of the other tops but its so pretty and comes in two other gorgeous colors! Shop them HERE.

20. I have been wanting white activewear leggings for awhile now. I haven't bought these yet but I'm definitely keeping them in mind. They are so beautiful and also available in black! Shop them HERE.

21. I'm normally a small in Zella leggings but I bought these in a medium because small wasn't available at the time. I am hoping they still fit because the color is just to die for! Love the mauve shade and I actually got the Zella bra (23.) to go with them. Shop them HERE.

22. Zella is one of my favorite brands for leggings. When I saw these high waisted leggings in one of my favorite colors I was sold! I got these in a size small. I love that the high waist will give my mom bod a little more support ;) Also available in black. Shop them HERE.
-EDIT: Small became available to I ordered them! Can't wait to see these in person :)

23. I bought this sports bra to go with the dusty rose Zella leggings I bought (21.) I love the strappy look of this bra! Shop it HERE.

24. I wasn't sure about this bra but I figured I'd order it and give it a try since it was such a great deal on Nike. The color says it's Red Stardust. It looked good online but I'll have to see it in person. It comes in three colors. Shop them HERE.

25. This tailored biker Blanknyc blush jacket is everything. OMG. It's faux leather and it comes in a stone grey color as well. They advise to size up as it runs small. Shop it HERE.

26. This is the priciest item I have on here but I added it's because I absolutely love it. It's REAL leather and this color is amazing. I know that the price is a bit higher but it's definitely an investment piece. This jacket isn't your typical fast fashion item. If you buy this, it's going to be something you own forever and will wear year round with anything! With a basic white tank paired with distressed cutoffs and booties in the spring, over a slip dress on a cool summer night, with a tunic, leggings, and cute floppy hat in the fall, or in the winter over a black top, skinny jeans, and thigh high boots. I seriously am so in love with this and can't wait to see it in person! It's also available in black. Shop them HERE.

27. This hat is so cute. The style is very on trend right now and the embroidery detail is on point ;) Shop it HERE.

28. I have loved the look of these Rebecca Minkoff  Love bags since they came out. This one in particular is so detailed and absolutely gorgeous. Shop it HERE.

29. I usually prefer to carry a crossbody bag because now that I have a little one it's important that I keep my hands free for spit wiping, dirty diaper checking, picking up dropped toys, and things of the sort...but this clutch is reeaally tempting. Loving the color (are you sensing a theme here?) and the fold over design. I certainly couldn't get all the gear I carry around in there but it'd be great for a night out. Shop it HERE.

30. I'm going to be honest...I've never been a huuuuge Kendra Scott jewelry fan. I know, I know how could I say such a thing. I'm not a hater. I just don't find a lot that I like...but these rose gold babies are beautiful!! Shop them HERE.

31. I am really digging mirrored sunglasses right now. I went through a super dark lens phase but right now it's all about the mirrored look. To top it off these are so sleek and frameless. Shop them HERE.

32. I am getting this in the letter J after my sweet baby boy! Such a pretty necklace..this would make a great gift. Shop it HERE.

Medela Sonata // {Review}

I purchased the Medela Sonata after I had my baby in January. I haven't used any other pump so this isn't really going to be a comparison, but I still wanted to share my experience with this product because when I was looking around I couldn't really find a lot of reviews on this particular item. So, if you're interested in the Medela Sonata check out the post below 😊

Quick Rundown

Pros:
1.       Quiet
2.       Useful App
3.       Two Pumping  Phases: Stimulation and Expression
4.       10 Suction Levels
5.       Two Pumping Rhythms
6.       Single and Double Pumping
7.       Portable
8.       Sleek design

Cons:
1.       No memory option
2.       Heavy parts
3.       Expensive

The Sonata is the newest pump from Medela and what makes it so unique is its ability to connect to your devices via Bluetooth. Medela has created an app that works in conjunction with the smart pump to help moms track various sessions including breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, diapers, sleeping, and even the height and weight of your little one.

When connected, the app automatically syncs to the pump for real time tracking during your pumping session. You can also enter in the information manually if you choose. The app has options for time, duration, amount of milk pumped, and which breast you pumped on.

The app allows you to track how long you breast feed and which breast you finished on. You can also track diaper changes and whether they were wet, dirty, or both.

The bottle feeding option gives you the ability to track when your little one takes a bottle, how many ounces he drank, and if it was breast milk, formula, or both.

Sleeping times can also be tracked but I really haven't used this option very much.

MyMedela App

I have found the app to be a great tool for me to as a new mom. It really helps me keep track of everything going on with my little guy in addition to how my breastfeeding and pumping are going.

As for the pump itself, it's beautiful. I love the sleek design and modern look. It's easy to carry with a built in handle on the backside and it has an option to silence the button and notification noises. Speaking of notification noises, the pump will alert you if you are losing suction at all which is super helpful! The Sonata is also very very quiet! I can use it in the middle of the night right next to my little dude without worrying about waking him.

The pump allows for single or double pumping. It has two phases, Stimulation and Expression, which is supposed to give you more milk in less time. The stimulation phase lasts two minutes and then it automatically switches to the expression phase. There is a button to switch directly to the expression phase before the two minutes are up.

The Sonata has ten different suction levels and two pumping rhythms. I don't really notice a difference in my milk output when I use either of the pumping rhythms so I typically stay on the first rhythm at the 3rd suction level.

One thing I do wish a pump this expensive had is a memory option. After the stimulation phase ends, it automatically begins pumping on the 4th suction level, which I find a little too uncomfortable for me. As a result, I always get a little twinge of discomfort when it begins the expression phase.
Another difference in this pump compared to their other ones, are the parts. The pumping kits are different than all the other Medela kits and are not compatible with other pumps from the brand. However, the breast shields are the same. Also, I noticed that when the pump kits are completely assembled they feel a bit heavy. I use a strapless pumping bra and it’s super convenient but with the weight of the pumping kit plus the expressed milk it’s a little on the heavy side. Another thing I think someone might consider, though it doesn't really bother me to be honest, are the parts to clean. The pumping kit itself includes multiple pieces so there's definitely a lot to wash.

I bought my pump at Target for $399 you can check it out HERE. The whole kit came with the rechargeable breast pump, 2 breast pump kits, two 24mm breast shields, two 27mm breast shields, 4 bottles with lids, 1 cooler, 1 ice pack, tubing, a power cord, and two bottle stands. The Sonata also comes with a bag. I don’t use it because I don’t need to pump on the go but if you are interested in it, it’s plain black and not too big but it has plenty of storage for the pump and parts.

Overall I would say that I’m really satisfied with this pump. Like I mentioned before I haven’t used any other pumps since this is my first baby, but I would definitely buy this all over again. I feel like the quality of the pump, the usefulness of the app, the easy operation functions, and the accessories that are included make the price worth it. You can purchase this pump at different locations but I got mine at Target so if you're interested in getting it you can check it out HERE :)

Photoshoot // {Maternity}

I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted. Needless to say with a baby on the way and purchasing a new home, things have been pretty busy. I wanted to share our sweet maternity shoot that we did last month around my 34th week. We met up with a great photographer in our area named Johanna Dye. You can see more of her work here. She will actually be doing our birth photography as well. Scroll down for pictures and details :)

These were shot at Clark Park in Fayetteville, NC. It was a frosty morning but we were so glad our photographer was able to work us into her schedule. I'm wearing this dress from Pink Blush Maternity. It was on sale during the holidays and I knew as soon as I saw it I wanted to use it for our maternity shoot. It fit true to size and was super comfy even with my bump. I'm wearing a size small here (I'm 5'4" and my measurements at 34 weeks were Bust 37 - Under Bust 32.5 - Bump 38.5 - Hips 39). They have sales regularly so keep an eye out for the best price. The description calls it gold but I think it's more of a copper color.

I almost didn't do maternity pictures but I am so glad I did. Most of my photos from this pregnancy are selfies or shot with my tripod. If you're on the fence about getting some done I really recommend that you do. These are something I will cherish forever <3
